What is Hardship?

What Does It Mean to Endure Hardship?

 I came across a thought-provoking passage:

'Most people have an overly shallow understanding of what it means to endure hardship. Poverty is by no means hardship — poverty is simply poverty, nothing more.

Enduring hardship is not about the ability to live in destitution. Its true essence lies in the capacity to stay focused on one goal for an extended period, along with the willingness to give up recreational activities, futile social interactions, and meaningless consumption in the process. It also entails bearing loneliness and being misunderstood. At its core, it is a combination of self-discipline, self-control, perseverance, and deep thinking.

To a large extent, those who achieve wealth through their own efforts are often more capable of enduring hardship than the poor.Otherwise, they could never have risen from rags to riches on their own.You will notice that even after attaining wealth, they remain more diligent than you, better at enduring solitude, and more driven by lofty ideals.

This, indeed, is what it means to endure hardship.
