1. To be honest, sleeping is much more comfortable in this cool weather. Of course, I slept soundly last night, and since it rained this morning, I got to sleep in a bit longer—it was absolutely delightful.
2. I got up a little after 6 o’clock, and the rain had just lightened up by then. So I quickly fetched some feed for the chickens, ducks, and geese, then rode my bike back home. When I arrived, I didn’t expect Dad to already be having breakfast. We started chatting, and I found out he’d gotten up really early, made breakfast, and planned to go fishing soon. By the time I sat down for breakfast, Dad had already packed his fishing gear and left.
3. Such cool weather is quite rare, and with light rain outside, I had no intention of going out. So I just lay on my small bed and read my novel. At noon, I peeled half a winter melon, cooked it with lard residue, and it tasted pretty good. Admittedly, the saltiness was a bit off—if it had been a little saltier, it would have been even better.
4. The funny thing about such overcast, rainy days is that if you don’t check the time, it’s really hard to tell if it’s morning or afternoon. After my nap, I got up and saw it was just past 12 o’clock. I was still groggy from sleep and thought, “It’s already past 12, and I haven’t cooked yet—I need to hurry up!” But after getting up, it suddenly hit me: I’d cooked lunch too early. I’d finished eating and laid down for a nap just after 11 o’clock. So when I woke up, the weather outside made me confused about whether it was morning or afternoon.
5. Around 2 o’clock, Dad came back from fishing. This time he caught a lot of small silver carp, plus a small carp and a few crucian carp. After Dad finished his meal, we cleaned all the fish together. The rain finally stopped for a while in the afternoon. I took the chance to go out for a walk. I noticed the hyacinth beans flowers at the village entrance—pink, white, and purple—looking really beautiful, especially with the glistening dewdrops on them, they were absolutely lovely. Even the usually inconspicuous blue morning glories looked much nicer with those sparkling dewdrops.
6. Dad and I cooked the rice early in the evening, then fried the fish he’d caught and made some soup. Luckily, we put the rice in the pot to cook ahead of time. Otherwise, with the sudden power outage, dinner would have been a lot more troublesome.
