很多同学过了四六级多年，也在外企工作多年，但从来没有认真想过packing，package，packaging这三个单词有什么区别。在他们看来，意思都差不多，都含有“包装”的意思，想到哪个就用上哪个！意思真的没有差别吗？其实有很大的差别！

我们来好好区分一下这三个单词，这次一定要弄个明白，以后不要再混用了哦。

这三个单词，可直接区分开来的是package，意思是“包裹，包装好的东西”。网购的时候，快递员送来的那些就是package.

A large package has arrived for you.

你有一个大包裹来了。

单词packing可以翻译成“打包，包装”，侧重的是“包装的过程，把东西放到包里，袋子里的动作过程”。

Have you finished your packing？

你收拾好东西了吗？

packing machinery 意思是用于包装的机械，比如说在火车站给行李打包用的打包机。

package machinery 是用于制造包装材料的机械，比方说生产瓦楞纸盒的机器。

单词packaging 意思是“包装材料，外包装，包装工作”。

Attractive packaging can help to sell products.

精明的包装有助于产品的销售。

在这个例句里面，packaging明显指代的是“外包装，包装材料”，非常容易和packing “打包”区分开来。

一、其它意思不同

package和packet作名词时，意思都是包。但是package作动词时，意思是把……打包，把……进行推销。

二、用法不同

package的用法

1、package用作动词的意思是“把……包成一包”，通常与副词up连用；作“包装”解时常用于被动结构。

2、package还可以作动词，表示“把……打包”，或是作形容词，表示“组合的”。

3、pack同topackage的比较：pack指的是任何人随便将东西装进或扔进行李箱即可，而topackage则是将行李整齐的，安全地安置在行李箱里，是一种需要被传授的技巧。

4、作形容词时，package常用作谈判的一方对另一方所提供的协议或最终成交的定语，将所有的意见总合在一起，可选择接受一些，或拒绝一些。

packet的用法：

1、packet的基本意思是“小包，小盒”，指包装商品用的小包、小盒或小袋，也可指包得非常整洁的小包，如信件小包，多指“小件行李，邮包”，还可指用小包、小盒、小袋所盛之物，是可数名词。 

2、a packet意思是“一包”、“一盒”、“一捆”、“一袋”，其后多接复数名词。

3、在俚语中，packet也可作“大笔款项”解，指在比赛或买卖中输赢的大笔钱，是单数名词。 

4、packet还可作“邮船，班轮”解，多指定期的短途邮船，是可数名词，亦作packet-boat。

(1) pack主要指背在背上的“背包”，在美国英语中也可指“小包”。

(2) packet 主要指“小包”，与用于美国英语的 pack 同义。

(3) package 和 parcel 主要表示包捆在一起可供携带或邮寄等的东西，常可换用(package 多用于美国英语，parcel 多用于英国英语)。

When in the context of paper, a packet is a bundle of papers. In the context of commodities, a packet is a very very small container of goods or something else. 3；Packet, parcel 跟package 的差別?

Parcel 跟package 是指用紙包裝起來，再放入厚的信封中的包裹，以方便寄送給收件人。
通常英式英文會用parcel，而美式英文會用package.
例句:There is a parcel and some letters for you.
例句:All the ingredients are listed on the package.
Parcel跟package還可以作量詞用:
A parcel of land 一塊地, a parcel of thing一堆東西, a parcel of people一批人

package和packing的区别 

 例：买卖合同的内容除依照本法第十二条的规定以外，还可以包括包装方式、检验标准和方法、

结算方式、合同使用的文字及其效力等条款。

原译：Other than those as stipulated in Article 12 of this Law, a sales contract may also contain such clauses as package manner, inspection standards and method, method of settlement and clearance, language adopted in the contract and its authenticity. 

 原文中的“包装方式”，不能译成package manner，而应译为manner of packing。这两个意思相近的词，中译英时应特别注意。

 package意为parcel of things, packed together即，包、包裹。

比如：一捆信件，a package of letters，二十支装的一包香烟，a package of 20 cigarettes。

 packing （不可数名词）意为process of packing (goods)，（包装货物的过程，打包，打行李）等意。此句中的“包装方式”自然是指“包装的方式”“打包的方式”，而不是“包裹的式样”，因此应译成packing。此句可改为：Besides those specified in Article 12 of this Law, a sales contract may also contain such clauses as manner of packing, inspection standards and method of settlement and clearance, and the language adopted in the contract and its authenticity.

package 应该只是一种包装载体，而packaging 意为一种包装方式。
