This morning, I ran into Shenyang.

I was waiting for a friend at the school gate, and at that time, I was on the phone, chatting with a child’s mother.
Shenyang recognized me as her Chinese teacher from Baiju Middle School—she was in Wen Juan’s graduating class.
She had come to the school, and as it was necessary for home-school communication, we only talked during the short walk from the school gate to my office.
I took her to the next-door office to find the homeroom teacher, and then went off to my second-period class.
Around 2 p.m., she called, saying she had sent me a big bouquet of flowers.
I was surprised. “Why spend money so impulsively?” I asked.
Shenyang replied that she was just so excited and happy to have run into me.
She said she’d always really liked me as a teacher and loved listening to my classes.
Sure enough, at around 4 p.m., I received a huge bunch of fresh flowers.
To be honest, I didn’t really remember Shenyang, but she remembered me. And for that, I am grateful.
